I guess this is something to discuss at a monthly meeting?

Not before the initial research is done (see subtasks), I think, if we want to keep the meeting short, efficient and enjoyable :)

Research was completed => added to this month’s meeting agenda.

Report from the monthly meeting:

We quickly agreed about the general idea, and then discussed where
exactly we want to add buttons linking to Flattr. We easily agreed to
add them to the donations page. And then, discussing whether to link
to Flattr from each blog post, we ended up finding it better to link
to our donations page instead, replacing:

“There are many ways [[you can contribute|contribute]] to Tails.
If you want to help, come talk to us!”

with:

“There are many ways [[you can contribute|contribute]] to Tails, for
example by [[donating|contribute/how/donate]]. If you want to help,
come talk to us!”

intrigeri will have these proposals go through -project@.

Done. If there’s a consensus there, I’ll apply the proposed patch and then we (not me) can move on and get the Flattr thing started.

If I understand correctly, this is now more a discussion. I guess we now need some code for the website to accept micopayment, right?

I didn’t process the results of the discussion, nor did I implement the proposal yet.
This ticket will become something else once I’m done with that.
If you want to take over, feel free, though.

Not many people said anything, but there was a consensus.

Done.

And here we are. I guess the next steps are:

  • create ourselves a Flattr account;
  • configure that Flattr account so that the money lands in our bank account;
  • add a Flattr section to our donations page.

u. volunteered to handle some of that in the next few months => reassigning. Likely having a bunch of subtasks would help keep track of progress and more precise commitments.

Someone mentioned Gratipay (aka Gittip) on tails-dev: https://mailman.boum.org/pipermail/tails-dev/2015-August/009364.html.

this can be done only when we have received donations.

tracked by subtask.

Great to see this moving forward :)

  • Target version changed from Tails_1.7 to Tails_1.8

Last time i checked, there was not yet enough money in the account and the option to transfer it was not available.

Assigning the parent ticket to you.

Please tell me if you want me to make a withdrawal of the current balance or if you can handle it.

Cheers!

I think we should wait more before doing a withdrawal. I’ll check our balance after the donation campaign. See Feature #11298.
