Feature #9159
Test that the persistence bug of Claws is documented correctly
0%
Description
People have been complaining about persistence bugs while setting up Claws Mail. This lead me to believe that the persistence bug documented in https://tails.boum.org/doc/anonymous_internet/claws_mail/persistence.bug/ might not be accurate.
It would be good to try to setup a Claws Mail accounting with persistence from scratch. Core Tails people have access to testing credentials in our internal Git repo that would be perfect for that.

The description of the bug is accurate but the way it is presented is not very clear. We should instead explain “how to configure POP account for persistence” (if going through the assistant then it’s already handled correctly):
- Create a local mailbox stored in persistence: File → Add mailbox → MH… and specify .claws-mail/Mail. The mailbox appears in the left pane: Mail (MH)
- Configure the new POP account from Configuration → Create new account…
- Default validating the configuration, make sure that the local mailbox is configured in Account → Receive → Default Inbox.
- Also have a look at “Remove messages on server when received” (but that’s unrelated to this issue).
Marking this as for 1.4 as it will part of the workaround for Bug #9161.

Tests were down. Now we should move on to document this better. That Feature #9383.
