Feature #8845
Give some love to our warning page

Description
Our warning page didn’t change much in years. Still, are we are trying to make Tails more accessible to new users, it would deserve some simplification. Let’s do that!

The Portuguese has its own mailing list, see: https://mailman.boum.org/listinfo/tails-l10n-pt-br/

Worse case, this will be done as part of the web assistant (Feature #8580).

I would remove all exemples, as they don’t add information and make the page longer (and you could find many, many other exemples, I think).
Other than that, I think the part about metadata could be shortened once Feature #7368 is merged.
I don’t see anything else to change. Does that seem a good plan for you?

Agreed, plus, from the top of my head:
- Maybe we can remove “Tails doesn’t make your crappy passwords stronger”.
- We should shorten the titles (for example about metadata).
- I was wondering whether we should have a short explanation with more details if people want to read them. To make it less scary at first sight, and more easy to scan.

You mean the whole section? I’m fine with that, as it’s really not specific to Tails.

I thought about this, and… didn’t come up with a proposition :/

I don’t really understand what you mean.

We should check whether new warnings would be relevant. For example Feature #8845.

I have the feeling that the warning page is very good and would not change anything.
However, sajolida’s latest proposals were:
- Maybe we can remove “Tails doesn’t make your crappy passwords stronger”.
- We should shorten the titles (for example about metadata).
- I was wondering whether we should have a short explanation with more details if people want to read them. To make it less scary at first sight, and more easy to scan.
If this is still your proposal, let’s keep this ticket open, otherwise I’d be in favor of rejecting it.

This ticket is an example of something we should (and will most probably) do at some point but we don’t know when. For example, right now I’d rather focus our energy to write new stuff for Feature #9814. Then we’ll have more tools and a clearer idea on what to do with this one.
We could also reject it and reopen it in some years if you prefer.
