Description

Upon running Tails 1.2.2 on one of my boxes, I get this error.

A dialog opens up alerting “Error while checking for upgrades” - it reads:

"Could not determine whether an upgrade is available from our website.

Check your network connection, and restart Tails to try upgrading again.

If the problem persists, go to file:///usr/share/doc/tails/website/doc/upgrade/error/check.en.html

For debugging information, see /home/amnesia/.xsession-errors"

I’ve attached the xsession-error log.

Why can’t Tails make a successful connection to it’s update servers to check for an upgrade, but I can still connect to Tor, validate the connection at http://check.torproject.com, and browse the web?

  • Status changed from New to Rejected

Hi,

that error message is expected as described here:

https://tails.boum.org/news/version_1.2.2/

It’ll be frixed in the next release.

  • Subject changed from "Error while checking for upgrades" - xsession error to "Error while checking for upgrades" in Tails 1.2.2
  • Status changed from Rejected to New
  • Priority changed from Normal to Elevated

The user is reporting this error for 1.2.2 not 1.2.1. I would ask anonym or intrigeri: the ones who prepared this release.
