Bug #12363
New Greeter's release documentation is incomplete
100%
Description
It seems that at least tailsgreeter/__init__.py
embeds a version number that should be bumped at release time, but last time I followed https://tails.boum.org/contribute/release_process/tails-greeter/, nothing told me to update it. I’ve noticed we now have a scripts/release.sh
script. Please document when and how it should be run :)

Any ETA for this? I’d like to see this fixed by May 15 so I can test the updated doc when preparing 3.0~rc1.

- Assignee changed from intrigeri to alant

Reverted: we already have a documented release process, so let’s please not introduce another one in some other place that release managers won’t look at. Instead, please ensure the one we already have works.
#8 Updated by intrigeri 2017-05-16 14:31:43
- Assignee changed from alant to intrigeri
- QA Check changed from Dev Needed to Ready for QA
- Feature Branch set to tails.git:master
Apparently you did this on the master branch and not where I was looking (feature/stretch) so I missed it. So I can actually review it :) I’ve pushed my revert on greeter.git:feature/stretch anyway, as such duplicated info is doomed to become obsolete at some point: we have a hard time already to keep one version up-to-date, as this ticket shows, so let’s not make our job any harder.
#9 Updated by intrigeri 2017-05-16 14:32:37
And while I’m at it: why do we want to embed such version numbers in the code?
