Description

So far we had https://tails.boum.org/doc/first_steps/media/ for a while. The Assistant will lead people to USB “structurally” but our detailed arguments are good, thorough, and can be useful. We should:

  • Keep that page in the main documentation
  • Inline that page from the router in the assistant
  • Maybe restructure or rewrite it a bit
  • Stop mentioning SD cards

Actually, if we inline this page in the DVD scenario we present the arguments to people once they made a decision… which is a bit sad.

Instead what about having a link from the router? See screenshot in attachment.

Marking this as low priority as it shouldn’t block the first release of the Assistant but I will want to integrate this as some point.

Note that in practice, “our official roadmap” is what Redmine says it is, because that’s what we’re linking to when speaking about it roadmap. So, I find it confusing to piggy-back on these “Target version” values for other matters: as a result we don’t have any clear collectively decided roadmap. So I wonder: do we lack another good enough solution to express whatever you meant to with this change? (I guess I would personally use some release around the end 2016Q1 to put it on my radar, and from there possibly postpone it. Not perfect, but well.)
