Description

Steps to reproduce:

  • Start Tails
  • Start Orca
  • Type something in gEdit
  • Select it with the mouse
  • Encrypt it with a passphrase using Tails OpenPGP Applet

I think it shouldn’t :)

Result: the passphrase is spoken out loud.

Note that this doesn’t happen when entering a passphrase for KeePassX for example.

I guess it should be reported upstream? It’s not really Tails-specific.

Yes, you’re absolutely right. Any volunteer to try to reproduce this in
Debian Jessie or newer? I couldn’t find any bug report about that nor in
gnome-orca nor in pinentry on bugs.debian.org.

I guess I should do this as I was the one to point out the bug :)

Bonus points if it’s tested with pinentry-gnome3 (currently in testing/sid), since I’d love to ship that one in Tails 2.0 (see Feature #9555), and if it solves the problem, then we’re done.

I tried this on Tails Jessie (tails-i386-feature_jessie-1.5-20150801T0408Z-9946a87.iso) and the password is not read out anymore. So I guess I can close this bug.
