Feature #9565
Manually restart Vidalia
0%
Description
If I’m not mistaken, when a network connection is detected, Tails automatically starts Vidalia.
I have a little problem with this behavior. If Vidalia somehow cannot fetch Tor consensus, it forces me to restart Tails. After a restart it generally manages to connect to Tor network.
I am wondering if there is a way to manually restart Vidalia, so that I can use it when Tor consensus problem occurred.
As you can see, a restart and waiting another 5 to 10 minutes for the system to boot up solves my problem, but it started to wear on me.
Thank you for your time.
_PS: I would be happy to know if there is any other way to get rid of the consensus problem or not.
PPS: I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but anyway if I’m at the wrong place I would appreciate the directions for the right one._

Yes: disconnect and then reconnect from the network, using the NetworkManager applet on top-right of the screen.

Please report a bug about it: https://tails.boum.org/doc/first_steps/bug_reporting/

Reaching out to support channels is indeed better. No big deal, though, and thanks for asking!
