Description

Since we want to suppress the security slider notification (since it would be shown every boot of Tails) we should make users aware of its existence in our Tor Browser user docs.

I thought I would be able to do this in time for 1.4, but I doubt I will. Unless someone picks this up, I guess we have to postpone it to 1.4.1.

I’ll have a look. Do you know if Tor documented it already?

AFAIK, the only thing that exists is: https://blog.torproject.org/blog/tor-browser-45-released#Security

Maybe a image would be nice? Like on the “New Identity” feature, there is a screenshot of the place to click to access it.

You should specify where is “the onion button” because users might be confused with vidalia’s icon.

There should also be a warning that changing the default might make your fingerprint more unique, hence identifiable, like in https://tails.boum.org/support/faq/index.en.html#index12h2

BTW, the FAQ should be rewritten accordingly, with a link to https://tails.boum.org/doc/anonymous_internet/Tor_Browser#security_slider

Otherwise this looks good.

Cheers !

I don’t think that’s needed, because these are options explicitly provided and supported by Tor Browser, and all Tor Browser users (not only in Tails) are encouraged to adjust the slider’s position to their needs.

I don’t see 925d25c applied. (the FAQ isn’t changed online). It’s in a branch, I guess? So I set this as “fix commited” instead of “resolved”.

Yes, this was merged into the testing branch, since it shouldn’t go live before Tails 1.4 is out.
