If we go this way, then we need a documented process (along with a responsible person) to upgrade that copy. The good news is that this process could include actually testing the new version, which could be useful to avoid facing regressions.

This would be transparent to our installation workflow, so that doesn’t need to be a subtask of Feature #8583.

This might become actually more secure than HTTPS on pendrivelinux.com if we get in the HPKP preload list of Firefox.

We talked about this on the contributors meeting and we think it will not be so difficult to host some UUI files in git until Feature #7544 gets fixed.

- Type of work changed from Discuss to Code
To clarify, the plan is that we would set up a Git repo + additional ikiwiki overlay, that sajolida would manually update every month or so, without first testing the newly imported UUI.

The goal behind this ticket was to have HTTPS on the download of UUI. We’re doing this already now in /install/win/usb, pointing to https://git-tails.immerda.ch/uui-binary/plain/Universal-USB-Installer.exe.
