According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_App_Store: “Disallowed types of applications revealed by Apple include free software licensed only under the GPL (because the App Store Terms of Service imposes additional restrictions incompatible with the GPL)”.

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Store, Windows Store is available starting from Windows 8 only.
