Consider replacing some of our code with the GDM->GNOME session keyboard layout passthrough

Description
As https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Input_device_configuration says, “a layout manually chosen in gdm will be transferred into the session as an additional keyboard layout”. This might allow us to drop some of our super-racy code in PostLogin.default and/or tails-configure-keyboard (Bug #7912). It might actually explain why our setting of /org/gnome/libgnomekbd/keyboard/layouts in tails-configure-keyboard is racy.

I’d like to see us work on this for Tails/Jessie, possibly in combination with the move to localectl (Bug #7897).

The problem here is “additional”: we want it to be the main layout. But I agree that’s worth investigating further.

Now that Bug #7897 is fixed properly, it could be a good time to have a closer look.

Indeed, this sentence doesn’t specify the priority of this additional layout wrt. other ones.

Given GDM doesn’t let the user choose their preferred keyboard layout anymore, it’s unlikely that the facility this ticket is about still exists and is maintained. Also note that the links in the description are about Fedora 13. Let’s give up.
