Just for the record: An independent someone opened a preliminary merge request implementing a GUI on top of xmpp-client using GTK: https://github.com/agl/xmpp-client/pull/90.

I haven’t look at it yet.

Ola Bini and his team started work on OTR and xmpp-client but nothing will be ready in the near future. So, for now, I cleared the target version field.

A lot of development is happening in the CoyIM project and I am not aware of another project to put a GUI on top of xmpp-client, so I will close this ticket.
