Basically for symbolic (monochrome) icons a standard SVG with transparent background should be fine. More info on https://developer.gnome.org/hig/stable/icons-and-artwork.html.en

Alan will be coding the new Greeter from the mockups that we made on the blueprint: https://tails.boum.org/blueprint/greeter_revamp_UI/.

We need to prepare SVG versions for the graphics that we used in the mockups. We took most (probably all of them) from the Noun Project: http://thenounproject.com/. The thing is that while doing our quick mockups we didn’t write down which icon we used for what :(

So what needs to be done basically is to find them back, download them, and upload the SVG version as attachments to this ticket. It’s not a very exciting task but it needs to be done by someone.

For exemple, for the keyboard icon we used: http://thenounproject.com/term/keyboard/9980/. For the ruler we used http://thenounproject.com/term/ruler/40390/.

Also check the GNOME guideline and check if there’s something specific in there: https://developer.gnome.org/hig/stable/icons-and-artwork.html.en

I’ll now assign that ticket to you.

Great, thanks a lot!

Now comes the only really creative part. In our mockups we flipped horizontally “translate.svg”. Because we wanted it to fit the select list in its bottom-right corner. So we need to prepare this as well. But note that the Japanese character is not symetric, so I’m not sure that we can flip it horizontally.

What needs to be done is to flip the whole image horizontally except the Japanese character. I recommend you to work from the SVG version as you might be able to break apart the image and rescue the original full Japanese character.

It seems to me that we’re still lacking:

• licence information for the recently added files
• more precise copyright information for all files (an actual copyright notice generally looks like Copyright (c) YEARS - COPYRIGHT HOLDER

I completed the list with all the license names, icon name, and author. I’ve never seen any more precise licensing guidelines or copyright info on The Noun Project, than “$Icon by $Creator. Please give credit to the creator.” It’s the same as we are doing on https://tails.boum.org/doc/about/license/ already.
