If I do the exactly the same things you do, I am redirected to https://tails.boum.org/ikiwiki.cgi?P="browser" (with quotes), and I get a ‘No documents match your query’ page, with "browser%20 in the search box.
The search box on the search results page is functionning as it should.

Actually, my search results were not empty but appeared below the sidebar so I need to scroll quite a bit to see them. This happens in Tails if I reduce the width of the browser from about 50 pixels.

So my bug is resolved.

But I also tried your bug in Tails 1.2 but I couldn’t reproduce your bug. I’m still redirected to https://tails.boum.org/ikiwiki.cgi?P=browser with no quotes.
