I’m a little bit concerned that this was merged before any attempt at upstreaming it was made. Raising priority a bit, since this is the kind of technical debt that may become a real pain to carry in the long term.

Hi,
I submitted a patch at
http://ikiwiki.info/todo/add_aria_landmarks_to_make_ikiwiki_websites_more_accessible/
They began reviewed the code and applied to the main content.
Only problem: it seems XHTML doesn’t allow the role attribute, so another solution should be found to mark the main contents.
