Description

I was able to boot into Tails OS 1.1 via WMware without any issues; however, booting from USB pose a problem because there was a sad computer-face logo indicating that, “Oh, no! Something has gone wrong! A problem has occurred and the system can’t recover. Please log out and try again.” I tried several USB sticks and none of them worked; I also tried to re-download the image and that didn’t remedy the issue.

I conducted a USB diagnostic test and it turns out just fine. Also, I tried several USB ports and to no avail - problem persist.

Therefore I am unable to remedy the issue.

Did you install the USB stick using the instructions on the website? Any other way to install is not supported. I doubt you followed this instructions, because I never saw or heard of this message…

Actually this is the same error as Bug #7323. Could you tell us if are able to systematically reproduce this error, and if you can reproduce it outside of VMWare.

1) I tried copying to USB stick via VMware - same issue.
2) I tried Rufus and/or USB Universal Installer - none of it works.
3) I tried other USB installer software and it didn’t work either.

I guess DVD should be sufficient for now. You guys SERIOUSLY need to remove UFEI support - it’s causing too many problems right now. I never had this issue in 1.0 ….

REMOVE IT!! I need Tails OS! _………………..

UPDATE: DVD produces the same problem. I never had this issue in 1.0 so this is defiantly an UFEI issue.

Motherboard: ASUS 990FX Sabthertooth. If you need my entire system specification, let me know.

Guys,

I figured out what’s causing the problem. After several months trying to reproduce the issue, I have come to the conclusion that my motherboard UFEI isn’t the issue here. To my suprise, Microsoft LifeCam Studio is causing this crash after logging in.

Solution: unplug the webcam USB. Violia, problem solved!

Go ahead and close this case. Problem solved.
