kvm —version
QEMU emulator version 1.1.2 (qemu-kvm-1.1.2+dfsg-6+deb7u3, Debian)

Steps to reproduce:

$ kvm -m 1024 -cdrom tails-i386-1.0.1.iso
Result: X11 fails to start

$ kvm -m 1024 -cdrom tails-i386-1.0.iso

Different virtual video cards didn’t change situation. Same image under VirtualBox works fine.

Bug #7171 was about the test suite, and was workaround’d. This bug is about regular usage of Tails.

Documented the problem, and known workarounds, on https://tails.boum.org/support/known_issues/#index2h2, but let’s keep this ticket around, as that’s an actual bug.

I can’t reproduce this on current sid host (qemu 2.0.0+dfsg-6+b1, libvirt 1.2.4-3.1) with Tails 1.1~rc1. aaafarnf, can you reproduce this on your system with Tails 1.1~rc1 or later?
