Bug #7260
Persistence feature for Universal access
0%
Description
GNOME 3 introduces a Universal access utility that allows to configure many small accessibility features from a single interface. It would make much sense to have those settings remembered in persistence.

I think this one should be elevated, as is would make Tails way more usable for lots of users. The Greeter should probably be made accessible first.

Maybe this could be added to clear persistence like language?

Bug #7500: Tails Greeter is not accessible added

I agree this would be one of the (very rare) cases when cleartext persistence could arguably be needed. Note, however, that it may make it much harder to plausibly deny ownership of a given Tails device that has such options enabled; the risks/benefits should be clearly communicated to the user.
OTOH, once we have standard, well-known and documented ways to enable assistive technologies (e.g. keyboard shortcuts to start the screen reader), then persistence of such settings may not be that strongly needed.
So, I think that this topic should be thought of at the same time as Bug #7500, as part of the Greeter revamp design process.
