Liferea 1.10.8 (from wheezy-backports) fails to connect.
This seems related to modifications in proxy support (http://lzone.de/Liferea-Trick-5-Privacy-with-SOCKS-Proxy).

I can workaround this by setting a HTTP proxy or by using usewithtor.

Liferea has an internal browser, with JavaScript enabled.
After a quick investigation, it looks like this issue is a blocker. I
don’t think it’s possible to fix without patching liferea, which I
don’t volunteer to do even if we agree it’s worth.

I this mark this feature as rejected.

I’m not sure to understand the consequences of this. Does that mean that
Tails Jessie won’t have Liferea anymore?

Because if that’s the case then, maybe we could try other things like
contacting upstream to explain the issue and propose a striped-down mode
without JavaScript or general purpose browser.

Of course, that would go in different tickets, maybe as subtasks of this
one.

No, it’ll have Liferea from the Wheezy repos.
Just, not the backport we thought would allow us to easily add persistence support.

Personally, I’m now more confident in using Thunderbird/Icedove’s RSS support, than it trying to strip features out of Liferea until it suits our needs.
