Persistence support on Mac
100%
Description
Currently, persistence does not work for Mac users because Tails thinks it wasn’t created with the USB installer, which is correct.

Could we just add mac/rEFInd boot support to Tails’ live-disk installer? Could I rearrange partitions after the fact?

I’m not sure where the right place is for this, but there is NO mention of this on the Tails website and it’s very difficult to Google for. It should be mentioned along with the instructions for OS X.

This will come for free once we have UEFI support (Feature #6242), so I don’t really feel the need to track this separately. But why not, so I’m keeping this ticket open.

That’s being done (no need for rEFInd actually). Test images are available on http://nightly.tails.boum.org/build_Tails_ISO_feature-uefi/.

I think the persistence doc makes it clear that it only works when installed with Tails Installer. Doesn’t the installation doc make it clear that most Mac won’t boot Tails when installed with Tails Installer? If not, then I agree we have a problem, and please file a dedicated bug report. Thanks in advance!

Users don’t read docs to understand a system, they read docs to solve their immediate problem ; )
Depending on how close you are to having UEFI support, I would either link to the dev preview or just wait until you are finished. Either way, I would vote for closing this ticket : )
