The standard EasyList patterns (https://easylist-downloads.adblockplus.org/easylist.txt) are contained both in EasyList+FR (https://easylist-downloads.adblockplus.org/liste_fr+easylist.txt) and EasyList+DE (https://easylist-downloads.adblockplus.org/easylistgermany+easylist.txt). There are also EasyListFR resp. EasyListDE available, which will only have the language specific patterns without including the whole EasyList. As far as I could check ABP only supports the setup Tails currently has with downloading EasyList (the generic, huge one) at least twice if EasyList+FR and EasyList+DE are included. Thus, the standard EasyList subscription can be deactivated.

Sounds good. But now we have Feature #9833 which solves this.
