Description

Once we have shipped with incremental upgrades enabled by default for a release cycle, we can ditch its launcher: there’s no need for the average user to run it themselves.

Actually, if we want to go on documenting how to incrementally upgrade to release candidates, we need to keep this launcher around. Will need more thought.

I wouldn’t find it crazy to require running a specific command to upgrade to a RC. We always say that RC are for testing only, so having to execute a simple terminal command to turn your USB stick into an testing one doesn’t seem bad. And it minimizes the work we would have to do to change our brain new UI.

Fair enough, I’m convinced. We might want to reconsider once Feature #6591 is
taken care of, but in the meantime, another shell command is
needed anyway.
