Actually not fixed. In current feature/wheezy, Pidgin crashes on first startup, and works fine on second.

The second startup works, unless ~/.gstreamer-0.10/ was removed in the meantime. So, this does look like an issue related to loading a GStreamer plugin.

Pidgin starts just fine the first time if another GStreamer application (e.g. Totem) was run before. This is definitely http://bugs.debian.org/578476.
