  • Subject changed from Document MAT usage to Help MAT upstream to write documentation
  • Description updated
  • Parent task set to Feature #8416

The MAT homepage doesn’t include user documentation. The logic of MAT is pretty straightforward but still, the current interface has proven to be confusing and, in my opinion, having a simple interface is not an excuse for not documenting it (but it makes documentation easier to write).

#4 Updated by Anonymous 2018-01-17 16:53:08

  • Priority changed from Normal to Low

We seem quite low on resources and counting on a self explicating GUI! Lowering priority, it would be nice to have but it does not seem absurd to reject this ticket if nobody volunteers to work on it.

#5 Updated by sajolida 2018-01-20 15:46:16

  • Status changed from Confirmed to Rejected

Low on resources: yes! Plus the development of MAT is stalled. I think we should help them somehow, if ever their development starts again. So rejecting for the time being.

About self explicating GUI replacing the need for documentation: no! No interface will ever be 100% self-explanatory for everybody all the time and people in need of something else than the interface will be very desperate and need good documentation. “Help and documentation” is the 10th heuristics for User Interface Design of Jakob Nielsen. And that’s for a good reason: https://www.nngroup.com/articles/ten-usability-heuristics/.
