Description

A user has reported that their RTL8821CE wifi adapter does not work. There is no Wifi icon and no signal.

It appears there is a Debian bug opened for this device:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=917941

I’ve asked the user to test with Debian Live and got the same result. I’ve asked them to double check if they have a hardware switch, but I doubt that is the issue.

The user did try out a few settings that are actually for a different device (rtl8723be), but in case it helps, the following did not help:

RTL8821CE.fwlps=0 RTL8821CE.ips=0
RTL8821CE.ant_sel=1
RTL8821CE.ant_sel=2
RTL8821CE.ant_sel=1 RTL8821CE.fwlps=0 RTL8821CE.ips=0
RTL8821CE.ant_sel=2 RTL8821CE.fwlps=0 RTL8821CE.ips=0

Thank you.

My understanding of the discussion on the Debian bug report is that next step is: adding this support to Linux mainline. Adjusting metadata accordingly.
