Hi @jasmine,

which set of fonts would you like to see?

I see that we have a ttf-mscorefonts-installer package in Debian.

Description: Installer for Microsoft TrueType core fonts
This package allows for easy installation of the Microsoft True Type
Core Fonts for the Web including:

Andale Mono
Arial Black
Arial (Bold, Italic, Bold Italic)
Comic Sans MS (Bold)
Courier New (Bold, Italic, Bold Italic)
Georgia (Bold, Italic, Bold Italic)

Trebuchet (Bold, Italic, Bold Italic)
Verdana (Bold, Italic, Bold Italic)

You will need an Internet connection to download these fonts if you
don't already have them.

NOTE: the package fonts-liberation contains free variants of the Times,
Arial and Courier fonts. It's better to use those instead unless you
specifically need one of the other fonts from this package.

Could you please try it and tell us if this fixes the problem you’re facing?

Also, Tails includes fonts-liberation already, so perhaps this could help?

Hi @intrigeri

I dont know exactly which fonts are unavailable in comparison to windows 7, thus the manual work around is to copy the default windows 7 fonts folder and paste the contents in tails / libre fonts folder, after that documents created in fonts that are missing in tails appear just like original.

Maybe just having a look at the contents of any windows 7 default fonts folder and add the missing fonts will solve the problem persistently.

OK, this is useful information. Next step is to figure out how to go from there to an implementation that would work for Tails.

I’m afraid I don’t have access to any Windows system, so I’ll need help.

I’m reasonably confident that ttf-mscorefonts-installer would do the trick but I can’t test this myself because I have no test documents to verify if solution X or Y works.

The main info that I think would be useful is to compare:

• The list of fonts installed by ttf-mscorefonts-installer in Tails
• The list of fonts it has installed with the list of default fonts installed on a Windows system.

Depending on what the difference is, it may or may not be useful to check if an Office document produced on Windows, and that relies on Microsoft fonts, renders correctly in Tails once ttf-mscorefonts-installer was installed.
