We’ve been interested in adding VoIP in Tails for years. We played a bit with Mumble, including in Tails Server, but we were not really convinced by its usability.

To get a bit more data about how many people would find Mumble useful, we could add those scripts in an “Advanced topics” page and see how popular they are.

Before doing this we should review them for security.

I have EAGERLY hoped for VOIP in Tails for years. Very much inline with the founding purposes of Tails. Some problems occurred when I copied/pasted the scripts to a setup-mumble.sh file in gedit, and followed instructions on CADs website. Attaching a log of output. Any assistance with debugging is much appreciated. Hopefully we could test this feature, and upon proven security and functionality add it permanently to Tails. This feature could speed the adoption of Tails.
