Description

Currently, geotagged images previewed in Gnome do not show geotags in the image properties side panel. For journalists using Tails to inspect images for metadata, it would be ideal if they could see that crucial bit of info in the side panel right away, as opposed to having to hunt for it in Hamburger Menu > Image Properties > Details > GPS. See screenshot.

Hi huertanix!

OK. I’ve found no configuration option to enable this so it looks like if this is going to be solved, it needs to be solved upstream, whose issues are tracked there: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/eog/issues

I could relay your request there, but I’m afraid I’m not in a good position to advocate for it further (especially once the discussion inevitably becomes about UX), so I would prefer if you would start this conversation upstream yourself. How does this sound?

Thanks, just filed an issue with Eye of Gnome: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/eog/issues/88. I guess we can close this one?

Yep.
