Before we work on this, let’s wait for:

  • deciding whether 3.17 will be a thing (should happen around Sept 12-15): if not, we only have to fix this for Buster i.e. Linux 5.x
  • Debian to have a fix

5.3 is not affected and this most likely won’t be solved in Debian’s 5.2 ⇒ blocked by Bug #17117
