Description

a user reported facing the following issue when trying to start Tails on a Dell M15 with an 8th gen i7 and a NVidia GTX 1660 (full specs :https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/us/en/04/alienware-m15-laptop/alienware-m15-setup-and-specifications/):

NMI watchdog: Watchdog detected hard LOCKUP on cpu XX

it looks a lot like Bug #15116, but the workarounds proposed for the Dell XPS 9560 are failing with this error :

ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating [\SB.PCI0.SAT0.PRT4._GTF], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS

Let’s track all Turing issues on Bug #16764 for now: as long as we ship a kernel that has no support for this chipset, tracking every single possible consequence on a separate ticket has a rather poor cost/benefit IMO.
