The version in stretch-backports (0.7) has no GUI whatsoever, which IMO would be a big regression. I don’t know if the Nautilus extension shipped in the 0.8 package (Buster) can be backported.

In any case: we’ll get this update for free in Tails 4.0. Doing it for Tails 3.x is extra work and will bring benefits to our users for only 5 months. At this point, I’d rather focus on porting to Buster or on work that will benefit our users for a longer time.

feature/buster already installs MAT 2 and we have an automated test about it, so we’ll learn soon enough whether there’s any work to do at all.
