HDMI "unsupported mode" error with Nvidia GTX 1060 (Pascal) since Tails 3.12.1

Description

A user reported that booting Tails 3.12.1 on a Lenovo y520t-25ikl tower computer ends up with an HDMI error.
nouveau.modeset=0 doesn’t change anything, and nouveau.noaccel=1 ends up in a black screen.
The troubleshooting mode is also not usable (resolution so wide only a part of the greeter is displayed)

The user is confirming that there was no issue with previous releases.

3.12.1 really has no related change so I assume 3.12 is the one that introduced the regression.

We’ve updated the kernel on the stable branch so please ask them to test it:

the user is blaming a broken RBG cable so I’m rejecting this
