Bug #16336
Check which packages we still need to patch on Buster
100%
Description
Our devel
APT suite has a bunch of patched packages. Most of them are superseded by newer versions when building feature/buster
. We need to go through the list, check which patch we still need, and forward-port them.

Buster is frozen so now could be a good time to do so (there’s still a chance we have to refresh one or three of these packages again until the Buster release but at least the churn rate is much slower now).

- cpio, cracklib2, gdk-pixbuf, initramfs-tools, shadow: I believe our reproducibility patches for these packages are in Buster \o/ — if not, we’ll see this as FTBR
- desktop-file-utils: our reproducibility patch is still not in Buster (https://bugs.debian.org/872728) so if we see unreproducible
mimeinfo.cache
, we’ll need to forward-port our patch - gjs, glib2.0, gnome-disk-utility, gnome-shell, gobject-introspection, gtk+2.0, gtk+3.0, gvfs, udisks2: tracked on
Bug #16634 - hunspell, linux, xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: already superseded or otherwise unused in 3.x
- mutter: the fix we cherry-picked is in Buster
- network-manager, onioncircuits: version in devel is higher than the one in Buster so for now we’re good
- onionshare, systemd, torsocks, intel-microcode, virtualbox: superseded by the version in Buster
- squashfs-tools: for now we use the one from Buster, which has issues of its own; that’s tracked on
Bug #16637, nothing to do here - tails-greeter, tails-installer, tails-iuk, tails-perl5lib, tails-persistence-setup, whisperback: Tails-only packages as of Buster
- thunderbird: 1:60.6.1-1.0tails1 is OK for now, but will be obsolete once we update to 60.7.0
- zenity: a modified version of our patch was applied in the version that’s in Buster
- firmware-nonfree:

I see no trace in our Git tree of any of the 3 binaries shipped by this package. I suspect we simply are not affected by this problem. Let’s come back to it and upload a patched package iff. we see unreproducible mimeinfo.cache
.
That was the only package whose status was somewhat in doubt => nothing to do here ATM, closing!
