Keyboard Only Functions in Safe Mode

Description

When booting Tails 3.10.1 on a Dell XPS 13 9365, the keyboard does not initialize. However, when booted in failsafe mode the keyboard works without issue.

The main issue for this user is that the 600 / 800 resolution in Failsafe makes work challenging.

Intel i7-yY75 processor 1.3 GHz
8GB RAM

what are you meaning by “the keyboard does not initialize” ? could you send us a whisperback report ?

Thank you for your response. By “The keyboard does not initialize” I mean that I cannot use the keyboard in tails. Only the mouse works. Typing does not work.

This presents a challenge for submitting a whisperback report as I cannot type in the wi fi password to connect to a network.

Do you have any suggestions on how I may do this? Further, is there a way for me to submit a whisperback report to an existing ticket?

you could either use an ethernet connexion or follow this documentation and send an email to tails-bugs@boum.org : https://tails.boum.org/doc/first_steps/bug_reporting/#no_internet_access

sending a whisperback report doesn’t open a bug ticket automatically.

… or plug in an external USB keyboard.
