I wrote this to upstream:
Subject: Preselect "Format in FAT32" when Tails is selected
Hi,
I'm part of the people developing Tails.
People are frequently reporting issues with Tails USB sticks installed
using UUI.
We are documenting to use the "Format in FAT32" option in our
installation instructions but when people skip that part they get into
troubles down the line.
So wanted to ask you if it would be possible to preselect this option
whenever Tails is chosen from the list of distros?
By the way, do you have a public Git repository for your source code?

- Priority changed from Elevated to Normal
- Target version deleted (
Tails_3.6) - Type of work changed from Communicate to Wait
There is no mechanism yet to do that in UUI and upstream is worried about the UX consequence as preselecting this option can delete user’s data without an explicit action from them. I also told him about our plans on switching to an USB image.
The next step is to wait :)

We now have a contract for Feature #15292 that will get rid of UUI, so I’m rejecting this.
