Bug #14905
Not enough space to auto-upgrade in 10GB .qcow2 virt. hard-drive
0%
Description
Hi,
I created a Tails 3.1 system on a .qcow2 file used as a virtual kvm hard drive of 10GB.
Tails installed itself in a ~2GB partition and I gat the messages “Tails should be updated to 3.2 but I have not enought free space to do so automatically, go mannually”.
How to get the auto-upgrade feature working ?
Is it possible to resize the Tails partition ?

No, it is currently not possible to do so.
You need to do a manual update every once in a while, unfortunately.

What emmapeel wrote is correct but lacks a detail that matters very much in the case at hand: Tails Installer now creates bigger system partitions on larger sticks (see the Tails 3.2 changelog). So I suggest you re-install or clone’n’install from Tails 3.2+ to a larger qcow2 device (more than 16GB and you’ll get the maximum size) and then you’ll have to manually upgrade much less often :)
