Actually we don’t have to do that yet, as our own package is still used even on devel and on the branch for Feature #13178, due to the way it was versioned:
$ dpkg --compare-versions 4.3-3+deb9u1 '<<' 4.3-3.0tails4
$ echo $?
0
Still, it would be nice to have the fixes that Stretch got, but it can wait until our next dev cycle.

I’ve looked at these fixes. One does not affect us (only matters when compressing files greater than 2GB) and the other is a rare race condition that I’ve never seen happen. So let’s forget about this and focus on issues with greater impact.
