Description

Maybe front desk has seen this too? There is no more german in the Greeter. Only “German low”. I have no idea what this is supposed to be. See screenshot.

Ok let me rephrase this. The keyboard selection in german seems ok. However in the language part of the Greeter “German low-> Germany” seems to correspond to “Niederdeutsch” and that’s why there would also be a selector for Germany and the Netherlands where some people also speak this version of German. “High” German is missing though - the most spoken version of German, not to say the “real” german.

Just for fun, that’s what low german looks like… While I can understand it partly, it’s not high german / hochdeutsch/ written german like in the dictionary or Goethe :)

Did you verify the ISO in the first place? :)

I can’t reproduce that issue, and get several German/Deutsch possibilities, starting with “regular” German.

I’m closing it, unless there’s a way to reproduce it?

mercedes508, u: how did you upgrade to 3.0.1?

I wonder if that’s another issue with this incremental upgrade (like Bug #13426).

#7 Updated by mercedes508 2017-07-14 12:59:45

I did an upgrade from ISO using Tails Installer.

#8 Updated by Anonymous 2017-07-14 13:43:15

I did not do an upgrade, I did a fresh install using the latest tails-installer package from Debian.

I want to try to reproduce this before rejecting.

So I tried to reproduce, by installing using Tails Installer from an up-to-date Debian/Stretch and when typing “German” in Greeter, the first option of language is “Deutsch - German” which is then labelled “Germany”.
So I can’t reproduce it myself, apparently.

I also tried to reproduce, I have two major options for German in the Greeter: one labelled “Deutsch (German)” and another one “German, low”. See also the attached screenshots.

Same here, if I type “German” in the language search field. And if I type “Deutsch” then I only get hoch-Deutsch options. So this is seriously weird and makes me curious :)

u, please boot with the debug option added to the kernel command line, and send me the full output of journalctl -x after having reproduced this bug. A screenshot of the Greeter’s language selection after having typed “Deutsch” would be a nice bonus. Thanks!

works correctly in 3.1, typing “german” or “deutsch” results in the same thing.
