Bug #12688
Minor aesthetics issues in AppStream for Tails Installer
0%
Description
I tried installing Tails Installer through GNOME Software thanks to the AppStream and it works. Still I found 3 aesthetics issues that could hopefully be easily solved:
- There’s no screenshot while the XML file points to https://screenshots.debian.net/screenshots/000/014/555/large.png. I’m not sure what’s going on here.
- The Website button points to
https://tails.boum.org/contribute/release_process/tails-installer/
and should point tohttps://tails.boum.org/
. I thought I fixed that already in dc8f7f7… - The bullet list in the description is broken. See screenshot in attachment.
- “Tails Installer” is sometimes displayed as “Tails-installer”. See screenshot in attachment.

Assigning to our Debian package maintainer. My understanding is that AppStream files are part of the packaging work. Tell me if you think that’s not your department.

I bet that’s related to the validation errors I’ve pointed out when reviewing the AppStream thing.

I confirm that’s fixed in our Git. I dunno what it takes for Ubuntu to take it into account. I suggest checking the source package uploaded to our PPA to ensure it has the correct data.

My report was from Debian Stretch (with unstable repo) and not Ubuntu
(still couldn’t get anywhere with Ubuntu).

The fun thing is that https://screenshots.debian.net/package/tails-installer is not fed by AppStream. I’ve added this information there manually over a year ago, maybe 2 years ago. I’ll see what can be done.
Anybody is allowed to upload screenshots of tails-installer to this page.

The link might be part of the Debian packaging. I’ll change that.

It has nothing to do with AppStream. What screenshots.debian.net is reading is the debian/control file. I’ve changed it in this file now. However, this will become active only once we upload a new version of tails-installer.

Given Tails Installer will be deprecated soon everywhere but in Tails where it’s installed by default, I suggest we reject this ticket.
