Description

Some orgs like the FSF rely on eBay Giving and Amazon Smile which give out a small percentage of all your eBay or Amazon purchases to a given organization.

What would be interesting to know is:

  • Whether this is worth it. Maybe we could ask kindly the FSF or other orgs doing this about the percentage of funds they get through this method.
  • What it would cost in terms of paperwork, verification, legal status, etc.

Tor is doing this as well. From data from their 2018 donation campaign, Amazon Smile represent around 0.5 % of the donated amount.

So I think it’s not worth working on this for Tails until we have many more users and receive many more donations.
