Description

ecryptfs-utils package is not available in Tails 4.7. Please neglect my issue if it is included in future versions.

Tails should be endowed with the most basic encryption tools to protect their file content.

Ecryptfs is seen as a core encryption tools within the Linux community.

IIRC Ecryptfs has a dubious security record. One can install it themselves if they wish. We provide a number of other file and filesystem encryption options So for me that’s a no, but I’d like to hear what others think. So first of all, please clarify what exact use case it would help satisfy, that is not already addressed by the tools we include.

I think that this commit has nothing to do with this ticket.

We’ve received no news from this user since 7 months and there is a way to install this tool using https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/ecryptfs-utils and APT persistence.

Furthermore we provide LUKS which seems more secure. Closing.
