git.immerda.ch will likely be migrated to GitLab one of these days. We should help them make sure it can work for us, by listing the Gitolite features we currently use & need.

  • We don’t use Gitolite’s support for groups (if it has any), but we use a Makefile to build gitolite.conf and that Makefile does use groups.
  • We have groups that include some other groups.
  • We have sets of repositories that share common permissions (that themselves are based on groups of users).
  • We give some users read-only access over SSH to private repositories.
