Description

While preparing the donation campaign we realized that people need a PayPal account to donate to Zwiebefreunde, while they don’t need one to donate to RiseupLabs. We should fix that.

We’ll stop relying on Zwiebelfreunde in 2017 so I’m repurposing this ticket.

This PayPal Plus account was for Zwiebelfreunde and we’ll stop relying on them as fiscal sponsors “soon”, so this is not relevant anymore. If I were you I would put this ticket on hold until the move out of Zwiebelfreunde is effective. And my wild guess is that this won’t happen much before the 2017 donation campaign.

Tor Project has moved to using stripe.com as a payment processor for credit cards. They don’t rely on PayPal for that anymore.

Hopefully our future fiscal sponsor in Europe will allow us to do such things and only use PayPal for PayPal donations. So I’m adjusting the title of this ticket to be a bit more generic and take this possibility into account.

When using Paypal, this is not possible and we can only fix it by moving to Stripe.

  • For European Union countries, only 10 guest payments are allowed per card. A single credit card can only be used 10 times to check out as guest.
  • Germany: PayPal Germany requires everyone to set up a PayPal account in order to use PayPal.
