Bug #11576
Have a scenario of the assistant for Tails Installer
0%
Description
In Tails Installer we will point to the installation instructions. These should take into account that people already have Tails Installer installed, so maybe only propose downloading as side option, and start from installing the final Tails.

Bug #5466: Link to documentation in Tails Installer does not open the documentation because it points to an old URL which is not properly redirected in Tails added

I think this ticket is primarly about providing a dedicated page for tails-installer in the installation assistant.
I am creating a subticket to change the link which tails-installer points to, so that we have both necessary steps documented.

Once we’ll distribute USB images, Tails Installer will be removed from Debian:
https://tails.boum.org/blueprint/usb_install_and_upgrade/usb_bootable_disk_image/
Then, the major benefit of Tails Installer will be used to clone the current Tails.
In the work on USB images we didn’t include modifying Tails Installer to only do that, so it will continue offering to either clone or install from an ISO image and people might find that easier than using GNOME Disks.
Still, having this dedicated scenario will be less useful. We haven’t found the time to work on this in years, I already think it’s low priority, and it will be even more after we have USB images…
So I’m rejecting this.
