Description

when gnome ‘ask’ for a password, like when connecting to a password protected wireless network, florence stays in the background and the password can’t be entered.

I suspect this will be the case as long as we don’t use a virtual keyboard that’s properly integrated into GNOME Shell.

At least the password prompt for Root Terminal is not supported with GNOME’s own on-screen keyboard either: I believe that’s because gksu uses obsolete technologies (its own dialog for the password prompt), instead of the facilities provided by GNOME Shell. E.g. the pkexec password prompt can be filled in just fine with GNOME’s on-screen keyboard, while Florence cannot be used in there.

We don’t ship Florence anymore (Feature #8281) and the GNOME on-screen keyboard has no such bug.
