What do you mean with “not supported”, exactly?
What version of Ubuntu does it work on?

the user reported she was able to login, but the resolution was 640x480
(which is why there is no whisperback report)

we’ve got multiple reports of users unable to get to the desktop after the greeter, using computers with Intel HD GPU.
most of them get the “oh no! Something has gone wrong. A problem has occurred and the system can’t recover. Please contact a system administrator” screen
other get to the desktop for few seconds, then they are sent back to the greeter. log in again result in a black screen or the console and a freeze.
the nature of the error prevent a use of whisperback, however a user was able to give us that error message :
“Error in ‘/usr/bin/Xorg’: double free or corruption (!prev): 0x[hexadecimal_number]”

Thanks for the report, but the symptoms are completely different, so this is a different (though related) bug => please report it separately (once you get enough debugging info, see below).

We’ll need the complete output of tails-debugging-info
. I hope we have existing doc explaining how to get that without X working. If we don’t have it, then I hope that whatever ad-hoc instructions you come up with to explain it this time and added to our bug reporting doc somewhere (even very basic, suboptimal and non-sajolida-compliant instructions that we can collaboratively improve over time would be much better than having to write such instructions from scratch every time we need them). IIRC I gave the outline of the needed steps on tails-support@ or tails-testers@ in December or January.

So this bug is about the GPU integrated in super recent Intel CPUs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_HD_and_Iris_Graphics#Skylake.
According to https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel_graphics#Skylake_Support adding i915.preliminary_hw_support=1
to the kernel cmdline might help. muri, can you get this user to try this?

i don’t think so- that was a report from a user in the #tails irc channel and the user isn’t there anymore.
(next time i’ll ask the user to subscribe to the according ticket…)

OK, so I’m afraid we’ll have to close this ticket: let’s try to use Redmine as a list of actionable items (ideally with committed people) instead of a list of known issues — we have better means to document known issues to users :)
