Description

reported by user (not confirmed by me):

The wireless card of the Samsung R680 will not work under Tails or Debian.

The workaround is to set the options of the module as this:

sudo modprobe -r rtl8192se ; sudo modprobe rtl8192se swenc=1 ips=0

(the RTL cards have problems for many users)

I can see in the log a lot of:

[  605.390244] rtl819xE:No more TX desc@7, ring->idx = 0, idx = 1, skblen = 0x18 queuelen=1

and

[  523.989968] Associated successfully
[  523.989974] Using G rates:108
[ 523.989976] Successfully associated, ht enabled
[  523.989979] HTSetConnectBwMode():pHTInfo->bCurBW40MHz:0

If it’s not specific to Tails I don’t think it deserves having you spending time documenting modprobe tweaks on tails.boum.org. Especially since this will most probably be silently solved at some point in Linux and we wouldn’t know when to drop this issue from our website. USB Wi-Fi adaptors cost 10€ nowadays.
