Bug #10406
Tails Installer requires a GTK version newer than the one in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
100%
Description
When I execute `liveusb-creator-launcher` in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty) I get an error about needed GTK 3.14 while GTK 3.10 is installed. In Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty) they have GNOME 3.10 (which in Debian stable we have GNOME 3.14). GNOME 3.14 appears in the latest release (Ubuntu Vivid 15.04).
Our package should be installable on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty).

Hi intrigeri,
I’ve update the branch with this information in commits
commit bc138f1fb5a62495eac7da586ec59e16e4da44ee
We want this to be compatible with GTK 3.0.
commit 54ad97155b8906b5482b9cde1834e9cad5bf900e
Do not require GTK 3.14. We do not need it and it’s not in current Ubuntu stable.
I think you might have reviewed that one already in the middle of other things.

- Subject changed from Tails Installer cannot be installed on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS to Tails Installer requires a GTK version newer than the one in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
- Target version deleted (
Tails_1.7)
(I’ve re-read the ticket description and believe the “cannot be installed” part is incorrect, retitling.)

Sorry if I’m being a bit thick, but I see no indication that you tested this on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS in the end. Did you? (I should perhaps take it for granted… sorry again.)

- Target version changed from Tails_1.7 to Tails_1.8
Postponing and thus raising priority a bit. This one should be easy using a VM; I suspect that one doesn’t need to install Ubuntu, a Live CD should be enough to test this.

tested with latest version of the installer now, which does not have the isomd5sum dependency anymore. it works great. In the ubuntu software center, tails-installer does not have a screenshot image nor its own icon though. I am creating a new ticket to track this. but imo that’s not a blocker.

For the record this is fixed in 4.4.1 (perhaps even earlier but anyway).
