Description

I’ve got a Lexar 8 GB key here that previously was running 1.5.1 and worked without issue. Updated it to 1.6 and rebooted, the key fails to boot on 3 different machines. Removing live-media=removable does not help.

Looks similar to Bug #10239. Please provide the debugging info mentioned on https://tails.boum.org/doc/upgrade/error/install/.

Not sure how to provide that if I don’t get to a terminal..

I burned a DVD and booted that, then used the clone and upgrade option to upgrade the device. After that, rebooted with usb key which worked.

I collected a log after the upgrade was done, perhaps that’s useful.

Right, this would have required either another Unix system (and adjusting paths in the command lines a bit), or to pass break=init-premount or similar on the kernel command-line etc.

OK, thanks for confirming that the workaround we’ve documented (Bug #10235) works.

No, I don’t think so. Thanks for the offer anyway! :)

Closing as a duplicate since you’ve apparently upgraded the device in another way, which has deleted the information we needed to debug this problem => let’s assume this was another occurrence of Bug #10239.
